Terms & Conditions
The terms under which Africa Global Forum runs — what we offer, what we ask of you, how membership works, what happens to your data, and the standard legal boundaries. Written in plain English.
01About these terms
These terms govern your use of Africa Global Forum (“AGF”, “the Forum”, “we”, “us”), accessible at africaglobalforum.com and the private member channels it operates. By visiting the site, applying for membership, downloading our research, or interacting with our spaces, you agree to these terms and to our Code of Conduct.
If you don’t agree, that’s OK — please don’t apply, and feel free to enjoy the public research without taking the next step.
02What AGF is
Africa Global Forum is a peer network for the African diaspora, founded and operated by Samuel Kimani Sikuku. We are not a regulated investment advisor, recruitment agency, immigration consultancy, legal practice, or financial institution. We are a community.
What we offer:
- Free research reports on the Africa ⇄ Abroad corridor, published on this site.
- An application-based member network for Africans abroad — with channels for peer support, member-led talks, and local chapter meet-ups.
- Affiliate-marketing partnerships with select brands operating in the corridor (current partners listed at africaglobalforum.com/#partners).
03Membership
- Application. Membership is by application via the form linked from the site. We read every application personally and respond within two weeks.
- Acceptance. We accept or decline at our discretion. We don’t share reasons in detail, but we won’t discriminate on the basis of country of origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age, or socio-economic background.
- Your information. You agree to provide accurate information on your application and to keep it current. Misrepresentation is grounds for removal.
- Fees. Where membership tiers carry a fee, fees and refund policies will be made clear at the point of payment. Free research is always free.
- Termination. You can leave the Forum at any time. We can also end your membership for serious or repeated breaches of these terms or the Code of Conduct — see the “How we handle problems” section of the Code.
04Acceptable use
Your participation must follow our Code of Conduct. In particular, you agree not to:
- Use the Forum or its data to send unsolicited commercial messages, run MLM/affiliate schemes that aren’t disclosed, or harvest member contacts.
- Misrepresent your identity, employer, qualifications or affiliations.
- Break confidence on conversations in member-only spaces — especially the “You Are Not Alone” channel.
- Record or transcribe live talks, salons or 1:1 calls without explicit consent from everyone in the room.
- Use the Forum to do anything illegal in your jurisdiction, or in the jurisdiction of the member you are interacting with.
- Attempt to scrape, automate access to, or reverse-engineer the Forum’s member spaces.
05Research, content & intellectual property
- The reports published at africaglobalforum.com/#reports are written and owned by Africa Global Forum. They are free to read, free to download, and free to share with attribution.
- Attribution. When quoting, please cite “Africa Global Forum, [Report Name], [Year]” and link to the source page where possible.
- What you may not do. Re-host our PDFs on third-party platforms as if they are your own; use our research as the basis of a paid product without permission; train a commercial AI model on our content without permission. Personal study, teaching, journalism and policy work are explicitly welcome.
- User-generated content. Anything you post inside the Forum remains yours. By posting, you grant AGF a non-exclusive licence to display it inside the Forum and, with your explicit consent, to quote it externally with attribution.
- Third-party data. Our reports draw on third-party sources (IMF, World Bank, central banks, Afrobarometer, IOM and others). We cite them but do not own their data — please credit them appropriately when you use it.
06Your data & privacy
- What we collect. Application form responses (name, city, country of origin, your one-line bio, what you can help with, what you need help with, optional LinkedIn URL, and how you heard about us). Standard server logs when you visit the website (IP address, browser, referrer) — for security and aggregate analytics only.
- What we don’t collect. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising pixels on this site. We don’t profile visitors across the web.
- Where it lives. Application data is processed via Typeform (which has its own privacy policy) and stored in our internal systems for review.
- What we do with it. Read it personally to decide on membership. Match you with relevant members, channels, and chapters. Send you occasional newsletters and Forum updates — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- What we will never do. Sell your data. Share your email or contact details with partner brands without your explicit opt-in. Pass your private messages to anyone outside the AGF moderation team.
- Your rights. You can ask for a copy of the data we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email admin@africaglobalforum.com.
07Partner brands & affiliate work
AGF runs paid affiliate-marketing engagements with select brands operating the Africa ⇄ Abroad corridor (e.g. LemFi, Founders Running Club at the time of writing). Where AGF mentions a partner brand in a context where we are paid by that brand, that relationship will be disclosed.
Members are never required to engage with partner brands. Members’ contact details and message histories are never shared with partners without explicit opt-in consent from the member.
08Disclaimers & limitation of liability
- Not advice. AGF’s reports and member conversations are informational and peer-led. They are not financial, legal, immigration, medical, or tax advice. Always consult a qualified professional before acting on something you read here.
- Best effort, not warranty. We work hard to keep the site, the research and the member channels accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee they will be free of errors, interruptions or third-party outages.
- Member-to-member dealings. If two members do business with each other (hire, invest, partner, lend, advise), that is between them. AGF is not a party to those transactions and is not liable for them.
- Limitation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AGF, its founder and operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or membership in the Forum.
09Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes (anything that meaningfully affects your rights, responsibilities or data) will be announced to members in the relevant channel and on this page.
Continuing to use the site or remain a member after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of France, where the operator resides. Any disputes that cannot be resolved through good-faith conversation will be brought before the courts of Paris, France.
For anything you want to ask, raise, dispute or thank us for:
- Email: admin@africaglobalforum.com
- LinkedIn: Samuel Kimani Sikuku · AGF page
- Web: africaglobalforum.com
We read every message. We’d rather have one real conversation than a 30-page legal opt-out.
Want to apply?
By applying you confirm you’ve read these terms and the Code of Conduct, and that you’re joining in good faith. We read every application personally.
